How to Help Your Anxious Child: A Full Day Training for Parents

When anxiety moves into a family, it takes over, sometimes for generations! It dictates and interrupts all sorts of routines, from bedtime to homework to school to travel. Parents do what they can to decrease the impact, but much of what we lovingly do as parents–the attempts to calm, remove distress, and or keep the day moving–actually makes the anxiety stronger.

The demand for help is high, as the numbers of anxious children and teens continues to grow. Although I still treat families in my practice, I’m often full and not able to help most of those in need.

So, I created this full day training, where parents will learn the exact skills I teach in my practice. I’ll pull back the curtain on how this worry thing works and offer the concrete strategies that work for all types of anxiety. Whether your child is still sleeping in your bed, melting down with homework, or socially isolated because of worry, this full day will teach you:

  • the do’s and don’ts of parenting an anxious child
  • how your own worry plays a part–and what to do instead
  • the keys to prevention and good treatment (hint: they’re almost identical)
  • the reasons why much of what you’ve been told about accommodating anxiety doesn’t work
  • the keys to preventing depression, anxiety’s friend
  • how to work with schools to create effective plans for your child and you
  • how to enjoy parenting and your children, even in this stressed-out world

The full day includes coffee and breakfast treats, an afternoon coffee break with treats, handouts, and time for question/answer throughout the day.

Registration/Arrival from 8:00 to 8:45

Program from 8:45 to 4:00, with short breaks and an hour for lunch.
